  8. Stories of old Singapore.

In 1954 I entered Pr. 1 in Cantonment Pr School. The school building was not yet ready, so we started the school year using Gan Eng Seng Sec Sch premises in Anson Road, the afternoons.
Then after 6 months or so I cant remember exactly, we moved into thr new School building in Cantonment Road. Mrs Evelyn Seah was our School clerk. I remained in that School until 1958 after which I was yanked out to go to a supposedly better school, Pearls Hill.
The next time I met Mrs Seah was 1965 when I got to know her son Ivan. I was in A levels then. I visited their house in Jalan Korban , off Upper Paya Lebar Road often. Then work and career took me on separate ways with their family , I kept one link. I am the Godfather of Kevin, their eldest grandchild.
The last time I saw her was about a year ago in Center Point where she was with her daughter Vivienne having lunch. She was still very sharp mentally and sprightly.
So you can say our ships crossed paths regularly for about 65 years.
    She will be remembered fondly.
